An introduction to the tried and true motorsports lubricant
In the world of motorsports both international and in local grassroots, Motul have already cemented themselves as an institution for motor oils.
The brand’s success at creating the right oil for right applications over the past century (yes, Motul’s history goes back to the 1850’s) have translated to a much regonizable and iconic imprint in the minds of the average gearhead. At this point it already goes without saying that the french lubricant brand with red branding and white bold font is a staple among modified vehicles and racecars around town – red windshield visors and all.
Since their acquisition and subsequent distributorship back in 2006, Autoplus Sportszentrium have set out to prove that Motul can serve the Philippine automotive industry for the better; All the more cementing the brand’s reputation here in our archipelago. What started as a high-performance lubricant for car guys in the know at the time would soon expand towards mainstream appeal and consciousness. To follow up on this, Motul Philippines continued to build on their brand by hosting events like the SuperFast Trackday to put everyone’s high performance machines to good use on the track. Complete confidence in one’s product is letting your clients give it a good workout, don’t you agree?
Anyone who’s been around the scene the past couple decades would instantly recognize the Autoplus/Motul Philippines Rocket Bunny RPS13 240SX drift car – a crowning demo car that showcases all of Autoplus’ technical prowess matched with Motul’s best oils keeping all the cogs and gears in check. Having gone from being driven by Nobuteru Taniguchi during a drift event back in 2009 all the way to being flown to Japan and competing in the 2018 FIA International Drifting Cup at the hands of Luis Gono, the S13 has flown the brand’s flag proud as one of our local motorsports icons. Back in 2012 they also hosted a mile run event at the old Subic Airport where the Autoplus Ford GT clocked an impressive 205 miles per hour (330 km/h) trap speed – a local record that stands to this day as the fastest standing mile trap speed in the country. It is these kinds of stories that make a brand, and only a reputable product can allow for such stories to happen.
From hosting events, having various high performance cars field their oils, and even going so far as to put their money where their mouth is with their own arsenal of racecars, Motul Philippines is out to demonstrate just exactly what their oils are capable of doing – all so we can see just how much abuse their product is capable of enduring.
Over the next few months with the help of Motul Philippines we will be going through some of the basics for oil-related content. These products don’t make a car better on their own: you will also need the know-how and information on the proper fluids to use and how to apply them. That said, Motul Philippines is here to help us understand what we’ll need to put into our vehicles.
